Designer Inspiration & Suite Overview
Taj 51 Buckingham Gate unveiled the Cinema Suite in 2012, crafted by renowned Indian designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee. Spanning 1,884 sq. ft., this two-bedroom suite features a dining room, study, powder room and fully equipped kitchen. A tribute to global cinema, it opened ahead of celebrations marking 100 years of Indian cinema.
Cinematic & Artistic Details
The suite celebrates both Hollywood and Indian cinema, with references to masters such as Ray, Coppola, Bergman, Majidi, Wong Kar-Wai, and Almodovar. The bedrooms evoke iconic eras: one inspired by Rita Hayworth and Marilyn Monroe, the master bedroom reflecting colonial influences and Indian cinematic legends like Guru Dutt and Merchant Ivory.
Art, Décor & Cultural Treasures
Every corner is curated with global art and antiques. Rare Bollywood film prints, Nina Campbell wallpapers, vintage mirrors, leather Chesterfields, Chinese porcelain, Bhutanese frames, silk drapery, oak flooring and 1920s Indian embroidered lamps create an immersive, luxurious environment. Artifacts from over 32 cultures make this suite a living gallery of world arts and crafts.
State-of-the-Art In-Suite Cinema
The Cinema Suite features London’s largest private hotel suite screen - an 85-inch plasma display with a 3D home theatre system and Steinway Lyngdorf sound. Guests can enjoy a curated library of 300+ international films, books and music, blending cutting-edge technology with glamorous design for a truly immersive cinematic experience.
Designer Legacy
The Cinema Suite is the second designer collaboration at Taj 51 Buckingham Gate, following the launch of the Jaguar Suite by former Jaguar Design Director Ian Callum in 2011, reinforcing the hotel’s reputation for bespoke luxury and designer experiences in London.
