MODERN SLAVERY AND HUMAN TRAFFICKING STATEMENT
1. Introduction
This statement is made pursuant to Section 54 of the UK Modern Slavery Act 2015 and sets out the steps taken by St. James’ Court Hotel Limited (the Company) to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking within its business operations and supply chains.
The Company operates two luxury hotels in London: St. James’ Court, A Taj Hotel and Taj 51 Buckingham Gate Suites and Residences. Both hotels form part of The Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL), a global hospitality group headquartered in India.
We are committed to conducting our business ethically, with transparency and integrity, and to ensuring that modern slavery has no place within our organisation or supply chains.
2. Organisation and Structure
St. James’ Court Hotel Limited is a UK-registered entity responsible for the ownership and operation of the above-mentioned hotels in London.
Our operations include accommodation, food and beverage services, events, and associated guest services. Our supply chains include food and beverage procurement, linen and housekeeping, agency labour, maintenance services, and professional suppliers.
3. Policies and Commitment
We maintain a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and human trafficking. Our policies reflect our commitment to ethical business practices, including a Code of Conduct, Whistleblowing Policy, Recruitment and Agency Controls, and Supplier Code of Conduct.
4. Due Diligence
We undertake due diligence processes when engaging suppliers, including supplier vetting and onboarding, adherence to applicable laws, and monitoring of high-risk categories.
We ensure all employees have the legal right to work in the UK and work only with reputable recruitment agencies.
5. Risk Assessment
We assess risk areas including agency labour, international supply chains, and labour-intensive services. Where risks are identified, additional controls and monitoring are applied.
6. Effectiveness
We monitor effectiveness through internal reviews, supplier assessments, and incident reporting mechanisms. We are committed to continuous improvement.
7. Training
Relevant employees receive training on modern slavery awareness, identifying risks, and reporting concerns.
8. Ongoing Commitment
We remain committed to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking and to maintaining the highest ethical standards across our operations and supply chains.
9. Approval
This statement has been approved by the senior management of St. James’ Court Hotel Limited and will be reviewed annually.
