HEALTH AND SAFETY POLICY
It is the Policy of St. James Court Hotel Ltd., (St. James’ Court, A Taj Hotel and Taj 51 Buckingham Gate, Suites and Residences) to take all possible steps to ensure the health, safety and welfare of all employees, other persons engaged in work for the organisation (e.g. contractors) and all third parties that come into contact with the business including our customers and members of the public.
It is the duty of each employee to comply at all times with the company safety policy and to co-operate with the management of the company to ensure that our workplace remains as safe as possible.
If any person is in any doubt as to whether anything is safe or unsafe then they must assume that it is unsafe until further guidance has been given by their Head of Department or by the Safety Officer.
The General Manager and Management Team of St. James Court Hotel Ltd. are fully committed to maintaining safe systems of work and fully recognise their overall responsibility for safety in the workplace. Our aim is to have no accidents or incidents. We seek to achieve this aim through developing a positive culture whereby all employees see health & safety as an integral part of their working lives. We have an open culture where all employees are positively encouraged to make representations regarding health, safety, and welfare and to report any matter where they have a health or safety concern. Any member of staff who does not comply with this safety policy or any other safety requirement may be liable to disciplinary action.
The objectives of this Policy are:
To Set and maintain standards of health, safety and welfare that comply fully with the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974, the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 and all other relevant statutory provisions including Regulations and approved codes of practice.
To develop safety awareness among all Employees and responsibility for health and safety and welfare at all levels.
To encourage full and effective consultation on health, safety, and welfare matters.
To provide all Employees with sufficient information, instruction, training, and supervision to work safely and efficiently.
To maintain a safe and healthy working environment for all Employees, Guests, Visitors, Contractors and third parties.
To ensure the effective implementation and subsequent monitoring of the Health and Safety Policy throughout the Company, it is necessary to define the duties and accountabilities of all persons. These are set out in this Health and Safety Policy document.
The reviewing of this Policy will be the responsibility of the Management Team and will form part of the regular monitoring activity of Health and Safety. The policy will be reviewed in accordance with the criteria set out in the policy arrangements.
